- PM attended a programme marking Navy Day 2023 celebrations in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra.
- ‘Navy Day 2023’ celebrations at Sindhudurg pay homage to the rich maritime heritage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
- The theme for 2023 Navy Day is “Operational Efficiency, Readiness, and Mission Accomplishment in the Maritime Domain”.

- The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), in technical collaboration with Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG), launched a mobile application ‘Indian Heritage’ in Sep 2023.
- The app provides information on protected monuments/areas with textual content and is aided by interactive digital maps.Â
- INS Sandhayak was delivered to the Indian Navy.
- It is the first of four Survey Vessel (Large) ships built at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
- The primary role of the ship would be the full-scale coastal and deep-water hydrographic survey of port/ harbour approaches and the determination of navigational channels/routes.Â
- The zone of operation includes maritime limits up to the Exclusive Economic Zone/extended continental shelf.
- The ships will also collect oceanographic and geophysical data for defence and civil applications.Â
- The secondary role is to provide limited defence and functions as a hospital ship during war/emergencies.
- The vessel has an indigenous content of over 80% by cost.
