Context:
A DoT initiative brought together 15 startups and the academia on “Telecom Design Collaboration Sprint”.
Details:
- The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) brought together start-ups/MSMEs, academia and research institutions under the “Telecom Design Collaboration Sprint”.
- The sprint was organised by the DoT at IIIT, Bangalore.
- Participants included leading startups in the Radio Access Network (RAN), Core ecosystems domains and institutions such as IIT Madras, C-DOT, IIT Delhi and other network entities.
- This collaboration engaged in deep-tech rapid ideation and innovative solutions towards developing a comprehensive and future-ready telecom stack encompassing comprehensive 5G solutions and setting the stage for future advancements to 6G.
- Objectives of the sprint:
- Leveraging collective strengths
- Fostering holistic solutions
- Creating market opportunities
- Outcomes of the sprint:
- Focused groups were formed to address gaps in the Indian telecom ecosystem and get ready for 6G and other new technologies
- Focus groups will strive to bridge current gaps and provide solutions that are suited to meet future needs
- Two working groups were formed
2. Integration of the armed forces

Context:
Parivartan Chintan – Il, a two-day conference on jointness & integration of Armed Forces, was held on 9-10 May.
Details:
- In light of the imminent theaterization, the Indian Armed Forces intend to give momentum to the ongoing Jointness and Integration initiatives among the three services.
- The chintan, part – I of which was held in April 2024, is aimed at generating novel reformative ideas & initiatives on the armed forces integration.
- Members from all the sub-committees of the apex Chiefs of Staff Committee; the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) as its permanent Chairman and the three Service Chiefs, shall review the progress made in multiple domains, and ideate on the necessary reforms to achieve the desired end state towards transformation through jointness and integration.

3. IREDA

Prelims: IREDA, GIFT City
Context:
IREDA incorporated “IREDA Global Green Energy Finance IFSC Limited” in GIFT City, Gujarat.
Details:
- IREDA Global Green Energy Finance IFSC Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of IREDA.
- The subsidiary positions IREDA to extend its global reach and also acts as an offshore platform for securing competitive funding to drive the renewable energy sector’s growth.
