Context: The Military Nursing Service (MNS) celebrated International Nurses Day 2024 at the Ayurvigyan Auditorium, Army Hospital (R & R) on May 11, 2024. The event commemorated the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale and highlighted the invaluable contributions of nurses to society.
Celebration Highlights
- Theme: The International Council of Nurses declared the theme for 2024 as ‘Our Nurses Our Future, The Economic Power of Care’, emphasizing the crucial role of nurses in shaping the future of healthcare.
- Activities: Various activities were organized, including a debate on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Nursing: Boon or a Bane’ and a panel discussion on the theme. Eminent panelists deliberated on key aspects of the nursing profession and healthcare digitalization.
- Recognition: Meritorious Nursing Officers were honored with Appreciation certificates, with Capt Deepa Shajan receiving the prestigious Pushpnaranjan Award for outstanding service.

Context: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan emphasized the pivotal role of technology in driving the Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA), stressing the importance of leveraging existing technologies and investing in emerging ones. His remarks were made during a gathering of scientists and engineers from the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) on National Technology Day, May 11, 2024.
