1. ONDC Startup Mahotsav

Context:

DPIIT organized ONDC Startup Mahotsav in New Delhi.

Details:

  • The event symbolized the celebration and collaboration of two of DPIIT’s flagship initiatives – the Startup India initiative and Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
  • The ‘ONDC Startup Mahotsav’ is a unique collaboration between the ONDC and the Startup India initiative. 
  • More than 5 lakh sellers have been onboarded on the platform, of which more than 70% are small or medium-sized sellers.

Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC):

  • The ONDC was launched in 2021 as a first-of-its-kind protocol, with a mission to democratize digital commerce. 
  • ONDC is fully operational across India, with the digital infrastructure completed and rolled out to businesses and the public at large. 
  • ONDC lowers entry barriers to digital commerce and provides a level playing field for all e-commerce players, especially small-scale businesses and those who have been digitally excluded.

2. India – Australia – Indonesia Trilateral Maritime Security Workshop (TMSW)

Context:

The 2nd edition of the India – Australia – Indonesia Trilateral Maritime Security Workshop (TMSW) was conducted from 15 – 17 May 24, at INS Dronacharya, Kochi.

Details:

  • The theme of the workshop was ‘Indian Ocean Region: Collaborative Efforts to Enhance Regional Maritime Security’, which was chosen to discuss ongoing maritime security challenges and opportunities for collaboration between the three maritime neighbours in the region. 
  • The Workshop was conducted under the aegis of Headquarters Southern Naval Command and witnessed the participation of delegates from the three participating Navies.

3. 12th India-Mongolia Joint Working Group

Syllabus: GS-2, IR

Prelims/Mains: India – Mongolia relations

Context:

The 12th Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting between the Defence Ministries of India and Mongolia occurred in Ulaanbaatar on May 16-17, 2024.

Details:

  • During the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress on various bilateral defence cooperation initiatives and identified further ways to enhance cooperation in these areas, articulating steps in this direction.
  • India enjoys age-old historical, cultural and civilisational ties with Mongolia. Both countries regard each other as ‘Spiritual Neighbours’. 
  • In modern times, values like democracy, freedom and market economy hold the two nations closer.

4. India – Bangladesh Relations

Prelims/Mains: India – Bangladesh relations

Context:

A bilateral meeting between the Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India was held with Rectors (Secretaries) of four Capacity Building Institutions and Senior Officials of the Ministry of Public Administration of Bangladesh.

Details:

  • Discussions covered 
    • Conducting Capacity Building Programs for Faculty of Capacity Building Institutions of Ministry of Public Administration 
    • Senior Executive Development Program
    • Alumni Meet of Bangladesh Civil Servants at NCGG
    • Participation of Bangladesh Civil Servants in the 27th National e-Governance Conference
  • The National Centre of Good Governance (NCGG) has successfully conducted 71 Capacity Building Programs for 2660 Bangladesh Civil Service Officers from 2014 to 2024. 
  • The two sides have agreed to renew the collaboration for capacity-building programs for 1500 civil servants for 2025-2030.
