Biology Full Forms

Biology is the natural science that studies the origin, anatomy, morphology, physiology, behaviour, and distribution of living organisms. There were other terms before the term biology was adapted, which described the study of plants and animals. For example, in their natural environment, the term Natural History was used to explain animals, plant fungi, and other life-forms.

Besides, rather than being an experimental field of study, it was observational. A person studying natural history is therefore termed a natural historian or naturalist. Natural theology and natural philosophy included other terms that came before biology.

In the modern sense, the word Biology was introduced by Michael Christoph Hanow 's in 1766. However, it was introduced independently four more times through the actions of Thomas Beddoes (1799), Karl Friedrich Burdach (1800), Gottfried Reinhold Treviranus (1802) and Jean-Baptiste Lamarck (1802).

Branches of Biology

There are generally nine branches of Biology namely,

  1. Botany
  2. Zoology
  3. Anatomy
  4. Physiology
  5. Biotechnology
  6. Ecology
  7. Immunology
  8. Genetics
  9. Microbiology

  • AIDS – Acquired immune deficiency Syndrome
  • BAC – Bacterial Artificial Chromosome
  • BP – Blood Pressure
  • DAP – Diamine phosphate
  • DNA – Deoxyribonucleic Acid

Benefits of Biology Full Forms

Biology is an essential branch of science because Biology helps to understand the human body in a better way, and provides knowledge about its structure. Most of the complicated biology terms are stated in abbreviated form, so understanding the full form is necessary.
