CDS Vacancy 2023

The CDS 2 positions were made available on May 17, 2023. For the CDS 2 exam, the board announced 349 vacancies.

The vacancies for the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) exam is announced by the UPSC. The CDS 1 positions were made available on December 21, 2022. For the CDS 1 exam, the board announced 341 vacancies. The CDS positions have been made available separately for the IMA (Indian Military Academy), INA (Indian Naval Academy), AFA (Air Force Academy),

The number of vacancies is subject to availability and differs between the two stages of exam as well as between the three defence academies. For the IMA, INA, and AFA programmes starting in July 2023 and the Officers Training programmes (for men and women) starting in October 2023, CDS 2 positions will be made available for selection.

The vacancies for CDS Exams are given in the table below. Do note that the vacancies are given for both the phases of the exam, and thus their availability will vary.

Points to remember for CDS Vacancies

• Candidates should indicate clearly in the designated columns the services they want to apply in the application form.
• Male candidates can select any of the designated services
• Women candidates are only eligible for Officers Training Academy
• Male candidates who want to go for Short Service Commission in the Army should select the Officers Training Academy only.
• Candidates who want to select the IMA, Indian Naval Academy and the Indian Air Force Academy should make their selections clear.
• No change of choice once entered by candidates in the application form of CDS will be allowed
