Haryana PCS Exam

Haryana PCS exams are conducted the same way the centre conducts UPSC exams. They are both conducted once a year in both Hindi and English. The mode of the exam is offline. HPCS is a three-stage exam. Candidates must pass all three stages to clear the exam.

In the first stage, a preliminary examination is conducted. The Prelims consist of only objective questions. This stage is followed by the PCS Mains exam, which contains only descriptive or subjective type questions. Candidates who pass the first stage will give the Mains exam. After the Mains exam, the shortlisted candidates appear for a personal interview round.

In the interview stage, candidates have to clear the personality test. After adding the scores of Mains and Interview, the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) releases a final list of the selected candidates.

Candidates appearing for Haryana PCS exams should sharpen their current affairs knowledge by taking multiple current affairs quizzes.

Haryana PCS Exam Pattern

Candidates appearing for the Haryana PCS exam should not rush to study the whole syllabus in a fortnight if they are serious about clearing the exam. Just like UPSC aspirants preparing for UPSC 2022, they should prepare well to clear all the stages successfully. The candidates should go through the entire syllabus before making a preparation strategy. They should also understand the exam pattern of HCS to be better prepared.

As mentioned previously, there are three stages in the Haryana PCS competitive exam — the Prelims, the Mains, and the Interview.

There are two papers in the Prelims stage — General Studies and General Aptitude; each containing 100 questions. The questions are objective in nature. The maximum marks for each paper are 100, making the total number of marks 200 for the Prelims stage. The duration for each paper is 2 hours.
