JKPSC Exam Pattern 2023
The important details like the total number of papers in each stage, duration of each paper, maximum marks of each stage, negative marking, etc. for the three stages of the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission Examination have been enumerated as follows:
JKPSC Preliminary Examination
- This examination is considered a vital screening/qualifying test for the exam takers because only selected students can secure a place in the JKPSC Mains Examination and subsequently in the final interviews.
- The Exam Pattern for JKPSC Prelims consists of Paper-I and Paper-II papers. The duration of both the papers is to be 2 hours.
- The JKPSC Prelims has a rule of negative marking.
- However, a candidate’s number of marks obtained during the Preliminary Examination is only a qualifying criterion for entry into the next rounds. It means that this score does not affect the final cumulative result of the applicant.

The successful candidates take part in the final stage of the Personal Interview before being recruited as public/administrative officers in the different government departments of the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
JKPSC Personal Interview
The reputed, and senior government officials conduct the JKPSC Personality Test. They judge the candidates in one-to-one interviews based on their overall personality traits, communication skills, ability to answer spontaneous questions, dressing style, etc.
The candidates must go through the video recordings and personal testimonies of the previous year’s candidates of the JKPSC Personal Interview rounds to get a clearer idea about the pattern and requirements. But, it must be kept in mind that a total of 250 marks have been allotted to the Personal Interview stage while calculating your overall rank and cumulative marks in the JKPSC Examination.
The number of candidates to be summoned for the Personality Test (interview) will not be more than thrice the number of vacancies to be filled.
