Gautama Buddha
- Buddha is also known as Sakyamuni or Tathagata.
- The name ‘Buddha’ means ‘the enlightened one’ and his teachings were known as Dhamma. The followers of Buddha and his teachings are ‘Sangha’.
- Teachings of Buddha include the Eightfold Path to Enlightenment and Four Noble Truths.
- Buddhist scriptures written in the Pali language are known as ‘Tripitakas’.It included 1. Vinaya Pitaka 2. Sutta Pitaka 3. Abhidhamma Pitaka.
- Buddha believed in Nirvana,getting freedom from the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. He attained Nirvana at the age of 35.
