Is English India's official language?

English is one of the two official languages of communication for the national government. As per the Official Languages Act, 1963, both English and Hindi shall be used for certain specified purposes like resolutions, rules, general orders, notifications, press communiqués, administrative and other reports, licenses, tenders, etc.
