Roughly 1.4 million people reside in the state, with an area of 84,000 sq km.
Arunachal Pradesh has a hilly terrain, and more than 70% of the area is covered by forests. Most of the state is neither explored nor inhabited by people. Transport and communication are also limited when compared to other states of India.
However, the state has improved in indicators like literacy rates and sex ratios over the past years.
The Union Territory of Delhi has the largest population density in the country with 11,320 per sq km.
