Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar pushed for greater reforms and social change in order to transform the orthodox Hindu society. He called for the practice of widow remarriage to become mainstream and worked against polygamy.
Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar played a key role in enriching the Bengali Education system to an extent by writing many books on the subject.
