The Aligarh movement started in 1875. The Aligarh movement was started to establish a modern education system for the Muslim population of British India.
The movement’s name derives from the fact that its core and origins lay in the city of Aligarh in Northern India along with the founding of the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College.
