(i) 0.4 Ã· 2

Solution:-

We have,

= (4/10) Ã· 2

Then,

= (4/10) Ã— (1/2)

= (2/10) Ã— (1/1)

= (2/10)

On dividing a decimal by 10, the decimal point is shifted to the left by one place.

Then,

= 0.2

(ii) 0.35 Ã· 5

Solution:-

We have,

= (35/100) Ã· 5

Then,

= (35/100) Ã— (1/5)

= (7/100) Ã— (1/1)

= (7/100)

On dividing a decimal by 100, the decimal point is shifted to the left by two places.

Then,

= 0.07

(iii) 2.48 Ã· 4

Solution:-

We have,

= (248/100) Ã· 4

Then,

= (248/100) Ã— (1/4)

= (62/100) Ã— (1/1)

= (62/100)

6. A vehicle covers a distance of 43.2 km in 2.4 litres of petrol. How much distance will it cover in one litre of petrol?

Solution:-

From the question, it is given that,

Total distance covered by the vehicle in 2.4 litres of petrol = 43.2 km

Then,

Distance covered in 1 litre of petrol = 43.2 Ã· 2.4

= (432/10) Ã· (24/10)

= (432/10) Ã— (10/24)

= (432 Ã— 10)/ (10 Ã— 24)

= (36 Ã— 1)/ (1 Ã— 2)

= (18 Ã— 1)/ (1 Ã— 1)

= 18 km

âˆ´ The total distance covered in 1 litre of petrol is 18 km.
