RRB Group D exam is conducted by RRB to recruit eligible candidates for various posts of Grade-IV, in Level 1 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix in various departments of Indian Railways. Candidates who want to realise their dream of working for the prominent Indian Government Sector (Indian Railways) can take the RRB Group D Level 1, RRB NTPC and other railway examinations conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board.
The notification for the RRB Group D 2023 exam is not yet released. The exam date for RRB Group S 2022 was published on June 30, 2022, in relation to the Railway RRB Group D Level 1 Recruitment. According to the RRB Group D Exam Date 2022 Notice, the RRB Group D CBT 1 is scheduled to begin on August 17, 2022, and will fill 1,03,769 openings for the positions of Assistant Pointsman, Level-I posts in other Indian Railways departments, Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical, and S&T departments), and Track Maintainer Grade-IV.

The RRB Group D recruitment is done by the RRC – Railway Recruitment Cells. The RRB on behalf of the RRC holds RRB Group D recruitment. The RRB Group D recruitment is announced by the Railway Board through Railway Group D official notification.
The recruitment notification for the RRC Group D exam 2022 was released on 23rd February 2019. Due to the Covid-19 and related restrictions, the exam was postponed and now it is scheduled to be conducted on 17th August 2022 onwards in multiple shifts. This time Computer Based Test will be held only in one phase followed by the PET/PST, document verification and medical examination.

RRB Group D Exam Dates
The RRB Group D exam dates are announced with the release of the RRB Group D notification. The exam dates for RRB Group D are decided by the Railway Recruitment Board itself. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRBs) has announced the date of the RRB Group D exam for 2022, which will take place on June 30. The RRB Group D Exam 2022 will now be held from August 17th, 2022, in multiple shifts, according to the officials. There won’t be a second stage of the CBT for the CEN RRC, according to RRB’s notification (Level-1).

The Railway Board conducts RRB Group D recruitment region-wise, therefore the RRB Group D vacancies are released along with the notification are also given region-wise. The RRC Group D vacancy for 2023 is based on the notification of 2019.

RRB Group D Eligibility
Candidates willing to apply for the RRB Group D exam are required to fulfil certain conditions to be eligible to appear for the Railway Group D exam.
The conditions for RRB Group D eligibility are decided by the conduction body itself. The eligibility criteria important for candidates to fulfil are prescribed in detail in the RRB Group D official notification.
The candidate’s eligibility for the RRB Group D exam is based on the fulfilment of the following conditions:

The highlights of RRB Group D eligibility criteria are given below:
RRB Group D Nationality
A candidate is eligible to appear for the RRB Group D exam only if he/she is:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee permanently settled in India from and before January 1, 1962.
- A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zaire, Zambia, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4) and (5) present a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India to the recruiting body.
RRB Group D Age Limit
The Railway Recruitment Board has set the RRB Group D Lower Age limit to 18 years and that of RRB Group D maximum age limit is 33 years. Any candidates beyond the age limit extremes as prescribed by the Railway Board will not be allowed to appear for the examination.
As prescribed in the notification, RRB Group D Age Limit for candidates in the RRB Group D 2023 examination is to be reckoned from 1st July 2021.
Candidates appearing for RRB Group D 2023 examination must have their date of birth between 1st July 2019 and the dates given in the table below.
Note* – Candidates should fill the same date of birth in the application form as recorded in the Matriculation/ Class 10th certificate or an equivalent certificate because no subsequent request for changing the date of birth will be considered.
The candidates belonging to reserved categories are entitled to certain relaxation on the RRB Group D Age Limit criteria.

- If a candidate is eligible for age relaxation on more than one ground, he would be accorded the highest of the limits (not cumulative) for which he is eligible.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) and applying against unreserved vacancies will not be allowed any relaxation on age.
- PwBD candidates applying against UR vacancies will be allowed age relaxation applicable for UR PwBD only
RRB Group D Education Qualification
The minimum qualification mandatory for candidates to possess for the RRB Group D exam is set by the Railway Recruitment Board.
The minimum education qualification that the board expects from candidates in order to be eligible for the RRB Group D examination is 10th pass (OR) ITI from institutions recognised by NCVT/SCVT (or) equivalent (OR) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

RRB Group D Salary
The basic RRB Group D Salary is decided by the recruitment board. Railway Group D salary for any candidate selected i.e. the initial pay scale of RRB Group D Level 1 employees is ₹18000/ per month based on the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

RRB Group D Notification
The Railway Recruitment Board Releases the RRB Group D notification to recruit eligible candidates to fill the vacancies in the different departments of Indian Railways for level 1 posts of the 7th CPC pay matrix.
The last Railway Group D notification was RRB Group D 2019-20 notification released on 23rd February 2019. The examination for the same is scheduled to happen on 17th August 2022.

RRB Group D Apply Online
Since the notification is not released, RRB Group D 2023 online application window is not open yet.
As prescribed in the official notification of the RRB Group D exam, the online application for RRB Group D 2019 started on 12th March 2019. The last date for the final submission of the RRB Group D application forms was 26th April 2019.

The computer-based test of the RRB Group D exam is conducted for 1 and half hours and asks 100 questions. There is a negative marking scheme in the RRB Group D exam. Candidates for each wrong attempt will be penalized with 1/3rd marks.
RRB Group D PET Exam Pattern
After successfully clearing the CBT exam i.e. attaining the minimum qualifying marks as set by the board, candidates are called for the PET test, the next round of the RRB Group D selection process.
The RRB Group D PET is just qualifying in nature i.e. it is mandatory for candidates to clear the exam but the marks obtained won’t be considered for the final selection of candidates.

RRB Group D Answer Key
The provisional answer key with the right answers to the exam’s questions will be made public by the Railway Recruitment Board after the exam is over. Additionally, the candidates will have the option to challenge the answer key for a fixed amount. After the exam authority has evaluated the objections, the final answer key will be made public.
