About SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam

As per the latest notification, the Tier 2 exam is now the final stage of the SSC CGL selection process. Candidates who pass the Tier 1 exam will be invited to take the SSC CGL skill test, which includes a computer-based exam.     • The abbreviation DEST stands for “Data Entry Skill Test.” It primarily involves a typing test where candidates are required to complete 2000 key depressions within a duration of 15 minutes. This test focuses on assessing typing speed, which can be improved through practice. If we convert the number of key depressions into words per minute, it roughly equates to a typing speed of 26 words per minute.
    • It should be noted that DEST is a qualifying test and is mandatory to pass for all positions. 
    • The Commission will conduct the DEST according to their determined guidelines. As it is a skill test, there is no specific syllabus provided. Detailed instructions regarding the Skill Test will be communicated by the Commission’s Regional Offices.

• Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): 

• • The Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) was an essential part of the SSC selection process and was mandatory for all candidates. This exam was conducted online and aimed to assess the candidates’ proficiency in computer applications. The test is no longer a part of SSC CGL selection process.

Types of Mistakes To Avoid In DEST

The Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) is specifically applicable to certain positions within SSC CGL, including Tax Assistant (Central Excise & Income Tax). Therefore candidates must not make any mistakes to perform well in the exam.
