Abhinav Siwach IAS 2022 12th Rank Holder Background

Abhinav Siwach, 28, is the UPSC 2022 12th rank holder. He is from Gaurakhapur village in Fatehabad and currently resides at Sector 16-17 in Hisar. Prior to this, Abhinav had secured 16th rank in the DMIS examination. His ambition was to become an IAS official, so he chose to retake the exam while keeping his goal in mind, achieving the 12th rank.

Abhinav previously passed the Civil Services Exam and is now a Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Delhi for the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli (Civil) Services (DANICS). He formerly worked as a naib tehsildar in Haryana.

Satbir Siwach, Abhinav’s father, is a DETC in Gurugram, and his uncle is a Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Sonipat. His paternal uncle works for the Hisar Municipal Corporation. Abhinav’s younger brother is studying for the Civil Services test as well.

Educational Background

Abhinav completed his B Tech from Delhi Technological University in 2016 and his MBA from IIM Calcutta. He worked for many firms as a management consultant and an investment banker.

After finishing his MBBS in Kolkata in 2018, Abhinav worked at a private enterprise and was chosen for the Danika Service in 2020.

Abhinav was ranked 16th in the DMIS examination. His ambition was to become an IAS official, so he chose to retake the exam while keeping his goal in mind, achieving the 12th rank. Abhinav used to spend 7 to 8 hours per day preparing for the exam. Despite working full-time as South Delhi SDM, he studied for roughly seven to eight hours daily. Apart from that, he has avoided social media and has no plans to join it after he enters the IAS department.

Sociology is a scoring subject with a short syllabus, which is one of the key reasons for its popularity among candidates. It also has a high success rate. With a relatively short syllabus, candidates should be able to finish within four months if they work diligently.

This chapter will also help you write answers to questions from previous chapters. In Chapter 2, for example, the issue ‘Science, scientific method, and critique’ is related to Max Weber’s Scientific Method in sociological analysis.
• Keep in mind that newspapers are an important source of information for Paper II. This paper is primarily on India, and the questions typically involve recent events.
