After two attempts, the third time proved lucky for electrical engineer Aditya Srivastava, when he bagged the coveted All India Rank of 1 in the Civil Services Exam 2023. But fortune favours the brave and it was Srivastava’s hard work and resilience (and not luck!) that helped him achieve the prestigious AIR1 in CSE 2023.

The UPSC announced the results of the UPSC 2023 on 16 April 2024. A total of 1016 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian civil services. In this article, we will read the amazing success story of UPSC topper Aditya Srivastava.

Hailing from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Aditya Srivastava graduated from IIT Kanpur with a B.Tech and later an M.Tech in electrical engineering. He started his career with investment bank Goldman Sachs in 2019 in Bangalore. But, after 15 months of working in the private sector, Srivastava decided to give the civil services a shot motivated by his desire to work for his country. He quit his high-paying job and returned to his hometown to pursue his IAS dreams.

Aditya Srivastava AIR 1 Previous Attempts

This was Aditya Srivastava’s third attempt at the IAS exam. He opted for a combination of hard work and smart work to achieve success in one of the toughest exams in the country. In the first attempt in 2021, Srivastava could not even clear the UPSC prelims exam. Evaluating his effort, strengths and weaknesses, he tried again in 2022 and this time, he cleared the exam with AIR 236 securing him a position in the Indian Police Service (IPS). With renewed vigour and confidence, Srivastava gave his third attempt in 2023, and the rest is history.
