B. Chandrakala IAS, a tribeswoman from Garjanapally village in Andhra Pradesh, who had faced several obstacles in her life ultimately managed to write a script of a success story.
Recently, District Magistrate of Meerut has become a part of the vision team of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. B Chandrakala IAS has been chosen as the director of ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’ and deputy secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
Chandrakala secured the 409th rank in the UPSC Civil Services examination 2008. B. Chandrakala IAS is known for her dedication, honesty, and commitment towards serving nation. Before Joining IAS, she was earlier served as District Magistrate (DM) From 8 June 2014 to 14 October 2014. After that, she became the 2nd Female District Magistrate of Mathura District.
B Chandrakala IAS Biography
Chandrakala studied up to the 12th standard at Kendriya Vidyalaya in her the town. She joined Koti Women’s College in Hyderabad to study B.A Degree in Geography but was married in the second year. Her soaring ambitions disallowed her from giving up studies. She successfully completed MA in Economics through distance education and prepared for Group I Exam conducted by state services. Not astonishingly, Chandrakala emerged the topper among SC/ST candidates in Andhra Pradesh Group I examinations conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission. She became Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies. This enhanced her confidence and decided to appear for the Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC.
The initial phase was tough for her. She failed in her first three attempts. In her fourth attempt, she qualified for the Civil services mains examination on her fourth attempt and secured the 409th rank.
Her optional subjects for UPSC IAS Civil services exam were geography and public administration. This is not a fairy tale but the story of hard work, sheer determination, and perseverance. Even after getting into the service also she is trying hard to keep her promises and commitment towards the nation. She is regarded as one of the honest IAS officers in India who bravely fighting against corruption.
