“Virat Kohli is my favourite player. I see him as an inspiration,” remarked IAS topper Donuru Ananya Reddy, while talking to a reporter after her stupendous success in the civil services exam 2023. Reddy has secured the third rank in the UPSC CSE 2023 in her very first attempt.
The UPSC announced the results of the UPSC 2023 on 16 April 2024. A total of 1016 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian civil services. In this article, we will read the amazing success story of UPSC topper Donuru Ananya Reddy, who is also the women’s topper in this year’s exam.
Donuru Ananya Reddy IAS Topper 2023 Background
Hailing from Ponnekal in Addakul mandal in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district, Ananya is the first person from her family to clear the civil services exam. Her father is a self-employed businessman and her mother is a homemaker. She did her schooling in Mahabubnagar and moved to Hyderabad for higher studies.
It was Ananya’s dream from her childhood to crack the UPSC exam and become an IAS officer. With this in mind, she opted to pursue her graduation in BA (Hons) in Geography from Miranda House, Delhi. Studying for 12 – 14 hours every day, Ananya cleared the exam within one year of completing her graduation. The 22-year-old says she wanted to become a civil servant in order to serve society.

Ananya is an avid cricket enthusiast and enjoys teaching and mentoring students. She says she did not follow any specific strategy for her IAS preparation but just made sure to slog it out for 12 – 14 hours daily.
