The new rules that were introduced with regard to the admission of women into officers post under the paramilitary category are given below:

  • Women are allowed to apply as direct-entry officers to the border guarding force Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
  • Women will be recruited as Assistant Commandants, which is the direct-entry level for officers in ITBP.
  • They have to undergo a training of about 52-weeks after which they will be commissioned in the force.
