1. India-Spain Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation

Context: Twelfth session of the India-Spain Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation was held in India.
Details:
- The 12th Session of the India-Spain Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (JCEC) was held on 13th April 2023 in New Delhi.
- The India-Spain Joint Commission mechanism was established in 1972. This year both countries celebrated their Golden Jubilee.
- Around 250 Spanish countries operate in India and nearly 40 Indian companies are located in Spain.
- The delegates from Spain have reaffirmed further cooperation with India in areas of civil aviation like Railway networking, Signalling, Traffic management, Automation, Surveillance, and NavAids.
- They have also agreed to cooperate in sectors like Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, Defence, Pharmaceuticals, Food Processing, etc.
- They have agreed to resolve bilateral discussions on various market access issues faced by their exporters.
- India and Spain are also looking forward to ongoing India-EU FTA Negotiations which will be presided over by Spain from July to December 2023.

Context: G20 meeting will be held from 17th to 19th April in Varanasi.
Details:
- The Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS) in G20 will be held from 17th to 19th April in Varanasi.
- It will promote joint action and science-based solutions for sustainable, resilient, and profitable agri-food systems.
- It will facilitate a platform for discussion, deliberations, and exchange of knowledge. Moreover, it will strengthen cooperation between G20 members.
- The theme of the meeting is “Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems for Healthy People and Planet”.
- The meeting will focus on four key areas:
- Food Security and Nutrition
- Building resilience and sustainable agriculture through climate resilience and the One Health approach
- Digitalization for Agricultural Transformation
- Public-Private Partnerships for Research and Development
- It will also feature the MAHARISHI Initiative (Millets And OtHer Ancient Grains International ReSearcH Initiative).
- It will provide new opportunities for collaboration in the field of agriculture.

Details:
- A Seven-day Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) Millets Food Festival was inaugurated in Mumbai.
- The chefs from various countries like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan, Russia, and India will prepare a variety of cuisines prepared from millets.
- The festival is organized by the Ministry of Tourism to celebrate the International Year of Millets (IYM 2023).

4. G20 meeting of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG)

Details:
- The second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) was held on the 12th and 13th of April 2023.
- It was held on the margins of the 2023 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.
- Nearly 350 delegates from G20 members, invitee countries, and other organizations participated in the event.
- It covered various aspects like Sustainable Finance, Global Economy, International Taxation, Financial Inclusion, etc.
- They also discussed the key challenges like the war in Ukraine, food and energy insecurity, climate change, etc.
- A high-level meeting of the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable (GSDR) also took place on 12th April 2023. It was co-chaired by Indian Finance Minister, IMF MD, and World Bank President.
