1. BRICS Anti-Drug Working Group
Context:
4th Meeting of the BRICS Anti-Drug Working Group held.
Details:
- The 4th session of the BRICS Anti-Drug Working Group comprising of Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa and India was held.
- The session, held over a videoconference, was chaired by Russia.
- The session included discussions on the drug situation in the BRICS nations, the international and regional trends of illegal trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, as well as the impact of various internal and external factors on the situation.
- The common points that emerged during the discussions include:
- The need for real-time information sharing among the member states.
- The need to curb increased drug trafficking through maritime routes.
- Misuse of darknet and other advanced technologies for drug trafficking was one of the key focal areas of the meeting.

2. Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan
Context:
Indian Railways generate more than 5.5 lakhs man-days of work under Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan in 6 States.
Details:
- The 6 states are Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha.
- Around 165 railway infrastructure projects are being executed in these states worth Rs.2988 Crores.
- The Railway Ministry is monitoring the projects’ progress and also the employment generated for migrant labourers under this scheme.
- The works identified by the Railways include:
- Construction and maintenance of approach roads for level crossings and railway stations.
- Development & cleaning of silted waterways, trenches and drains along the track.
- Repair and widening of existing railway embankments/cuttings.
- Plantation of trees at the extreme boundary of railway land.
- Protection works of existing embankments/cuttings/bridges.
