About Global Tiger Day:

  • Global Tiger Day is celebrated every year on July 29th as a way to raise awareness about the importance of tiger conservation.
  • The day was founded in 2010 when the 13 tiger range countries came together to create Tx2 – the global goal to double the number of wild tigers by the year 2022.

2. INS Khanjar

Context:

INS Khanjar arrives at Trincomalee.

About INS Khanjar:

  • INS Khanjar is the fourth ship of the indigenously designed and built Khukri class missile corvettes. 
  • Built by GRSE, Kolkata, the ship is armed with an array of modern weapons and sensors. 
  • The ship is a part of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet.

3. Design Linked Incentive Scheme (DLI)

Prelims: Design Linked Incentive Scheme (DLI)

Context:

CDAC and Arm partner to enable semiconductor startups in India through Arm Flexible Access for Startups Program.

Details:

  • Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) announced a collaboration with Arm to broaden the support under the Design Linked Incentive Scheme (DLI) and further enable the semiconductor market growth in India. 
    • ARM is one of the leading semiconductor IP companies in the world.
  • Arm Flexible Access for Startups program gives a $0 license fee access to a broad portfolio of verified Arm IP, tools and training.
  • As part of the announcement, ARM is now broadening its qualification criteria to welcome applications from startups that qualify under MEITY’s SemiconIndia future DESIGN DLI scheme.
  • ARM Flexible Access for Start-ups:
    • Arm Flexible Access for Startups provides low-risk, easy access to industry-proven technology, technical support, an extensive ecosystem, and Arm’s broad developer base so silicon startups can move fast, experiment with ease, and design with confidence. 
    • With Arm Flexible Access, startups building products across all markets have the best chance of success with a fast, low-risk journey to building a working prototype, securing the next round of funding, and instilling confidence in potential investors. 
    • Arm Flexible Access for Startups also offers technical support and training to rapidly upskill teams, alongside a choice of experienced Arm Approved Design Partners to bring extra capacity and capability along their journey.

Objectives of the partnership:

  • Startups selected under DLI will qualify for the Arm Flexible Access for Startups program.
  • Arm will provide the startups with access to processor and system IPs, reference designs, GPU, ISP, and AI accelerator IPs, and software development tools.
  • Arm will provide access to thousands of Artisan physical IP products supporting multiple foundries and process nodes for physical design and implementation.

DLI Scheme:

  • The DLI scheme aims to offer financial incentives as well as design infrastructure support across various stages of development and deployment of semiconductor design(s) for Integrated Circuits (ICs), Chipsets, System on Chips (SoCs), Systems & IP Cores and semiconductor linked design(s) over a period of five years. 
  • It is implemented by CDAC.
