1. 10th International Day of Yoga

Context:
10th International Day of Yoga celebrated across India and the world.
Details:
- The Prime Minister spent Yoga Day in Srinagar where many Kashmiris performed Yoga.
- In many other parts of the country, people performed Yoga and observed Yoga Day which was first observed in 2015.
- The move to declare 21st June as Yoga Day was spearheaded by India at the UNGA in 2014.
- The theme for the tenth Yoga Day is “Yoga for Self and Society”.

2. World Hydrography Day

Context:
21st June is observed as World Hydrography Day.
Details:
- On 21 June every year, the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) celebrates World Hydrography Day to raise awareness about hydrography and how it plays a vital role in improving knowledge of the seas and oceans.
- The theme for 2024 is “Hydrographic Information – Enhancing Safety, Efficiency and Sustainability in Marine Activities” considering the ongoing transformation in navigation, such as e-navigation, autonomous shipping and reduction of emissions leading to a profound evolution of hydrographic services.
Hydrography in India
- The National Institute of Hydrography (NIH) at Goa is the centre for imparting training in Hydrography. It is accredited by the International Hydrographic Organisation for National and International Trainees for the award of Cat A and Cat B certificates.
- The Indian Naval Hydrographic Department (INHD) functions under the Indian Navy as the nodal agency for Hydrographic surveys and nautical charting in India.
- The department has the mandate to undertake hydrographic surveys and publish navigational charts.
3. Statistical Report on Value of Output from Agriculture and Allied Sectors 2024

Context:
Release of Publication Statistical Report on Value of Output from Agriculture and Allied Sectors 2024.
Details:
- The National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is releasing the publication – ‘Statistical Report on Value of Output from Agriculture and Allied Sectors 2024’.
- The publication is a comprehensive and insightful document which provides detailed tables and analysis of values of the output of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry and Fishing sectors from 2011-12 to 2022-23.
Highlights of the report:
- The shares of Crop, Livestock, Forestry and Fishing sub-sectors in value of the output of Agriculture and allied sector were 54.3%, 30.9%, 7.9% and 6.9% respectively in 2022-23.
- ‘Fruits and vegetables’ emerged as the leading crop group in 2022-23, capturing a 28% share of the total crop value, surpassing cereals at 27%.
- Besides ‘cereals’ and ‘fruits & vegetables’, the other segments of the crop group include pulses, oilseeds, sugarcane, spices, medicinal plants, etc. occupying the remaining 45% share in terms of value.
- Though the crop sub-sector remains the largest contributor of gross value of output (GVO) of the agriculture and allied sectors, its contribution has gradually declined from 62% in 2011-12 to 54% in 2022-23.
- Uttar Pradesh has the highest value of cereal output whereas West Bengal has the highest output for fruits and vegetables.
- The largest producer of sugarcane was Uttar Pradesh (54%).
- In the livestock sub-sector, the output of milk, eggs and meat was 66%, 24% and 4%.
- The output of the fishing and aquaculture sub-sector steadily increased with Andhra Pradesh being the largest producer (18%).
