Details –
- The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation extended his wishes and congratulated Jammu and kashmir administration as well as security forces on the successful completion of Kheer Bhawani Mela.
- The Kheer Bhawani Mela held on ‘Jyeshtha Ashtami’ in Kashmir occupies a sacred place in the spiritual realm of the kashmiri Pandits. Every year on the day of Jyeshtha Ashtami Kashmiri Pandits visit Mata Ragneya Devi Temple, also known as Kheer Bhawani to pay obeisance. The temple is located in Tulmulla, Ganderbal district of Kashmir, about 25 km from Srinagar. The temple gets its name from kheer or milk or rice pudding that pilgrims pour into the spring inside the temple complex as an offering to the goddess.
- The Kheer Bhawani Mela began on 26th May and concluded on 28th May on the occasion of ‘Jyeshtha Ashtami’ and was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm by Kashmiri Pandits as well as locals of the valley. More than 25000 devotees attended the Mela.
2. Northeast Investors Roadshow

Context – The MDoNER held a roadshow to attract investors in the northeast.
Details –
- The Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region (MDoNER) held a roadshow in Mumbai to attract investors in the northeast and received a good amount of interest from investors. Over 200 B2G (Business to Government) meetings were organised in a single day, and a significant number of investors participated in the event, besides key policy makers and government officials from the northeast.
- The Northeast Global Investors Summit is a flagship campaign instituted by the Ministry of DoNER. As a part of the Northeast Global Investors Summit several Investor Roundtables have been organised across the northeastern states. Also, northeast investors roadshows are expected to be organised in Hyderabad, Kolkata and Dhaka (Bangladesh), similar to Mumbai Investors Roadshow in the run-up to the lead investment summit in New Delhi.
- The Northeast Global Investors Summit 2023 is being organised by the Ministry of DoNER, Government of India, to showcase the potential for investments and trade in the Northeast Region of India.
- The northeast region is important to India’s economic target of a 5 trillion dollar economy. Through special schemes and packages like -Social Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF), Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) scheme, PM-DevINE scheme and others there is a focus to build rapid, robust and sustainable development in the region.
- Northeast is a strategic gateway to South East Asian economies and each of the eight states offers a significant advantage to investors. Sikkim is known for being the country’s first fully organic state and has also shown growth in pharmaceutical businesses. The region has shown investor interest in tourism, power generation, natural resources, biotechnology etc.
3. MOIL – Record Production of Manganese Ore

Context – Record production of 4.02 lakh tonnes of manganese ore by MOIL in the 4th quarter of FY 2022-23.
Details –
- In the 4th quarter of the FY 2022-23, MOIL, a manganese ore mining company, produced 4.02 lakh tonnes of manganese ore, achieving a growth of 7% over the corresponding period last year (CPLY).
- For the entire FY23, MOIL achieved the second-highest production volume since its establishment. Manganese ore sales for the year amounted to nearly 1.18 million tonnes, slightly lower than the previous financial year. However, the sales turnover of EMD (Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide) during FY23 surpassed 100% growth compared with the corresponding period.
About MOIL –
- MOIL is a Schedule “A” Miniratna Category-I Company. It was originally incorporated as Manganese Ore (India) Limited in 1962. Subsequently, the name of the Company was changed from Manganese Ore (India) Limited to MOIL Limited during the financial year 2010-11.
- MOIL comes under the Ministry of Steel, GoI. It is the largest producer of Manganese ore in the country with a market share of 45 %.
- MOIL operates 11 mines, 7 in Maharashtra and 4 in Madhya Pradesh.
- MOIL has a vision of doubling its production to 3.0 million tonnes by 2030.
