1. Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas

Context: 

Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrated on Nov 15.

Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas:

  • The birth anniversary of freedom fighter Birsa Munda is celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
  • The first such day was observed in 2021.
  • The idea behind this celebration is to spread awareness among the people of the immense contributions and sacrifices made by the tribal people in the freedom struggle.

2. Indian Navy’s Gunnery Symposium 2023

Prelims: India’s overall exports in October 2023

Context:

India’s overall exports in October 2023 showed an increase of 9.43 percent over the October 2022 figures.

Details:

  • India’s overall exports in October 2023 are estimated at USD 62.26 billion.
  • This is a 9.43% YOY increase.
  • Merchandise exports registered 6.21 percent growth over the same period.
  • The services export is projected to grow by 6.22 percent.
  • Overall Trade Deficit during April-October reduced by 35.86%.
  • The major sectors that led to the export increase are Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, Engineering Goods, Electronic Goods, Cotton Yarn/Fabs./made-ups, Handloom Products, etc., Iron Ore, Ceramic products & glassware and Meat, dairy & poultry products.

3. Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF)

Syllabus: GS-2, International Relations

Prelims: Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF)

Context:

Union Commerce and Industry Minister attended the 3rd in-person Ministerial meeting of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF).

Details:

  • During this Ministerial meeting, the first-of-its-kind IPEF Supply Chain Resilience Agreement was signed by the Minister along with the Ministers from other IPEF partner countries. 
  • The Agreement is expected to make IPEF supply chains more resilient, robust, and well-integrated, and contribute towards economic development and progress of the region as a whole.

4. MoU Between India and the US

Prelims: India – U.S. Commercial Dialogue

Mains: India – US relations

Context:

MoU between India and the USA to Enhance Innovation Ecosystems through an Innovation Handshake under the framework of India – U.S. Commercial Dialogue.

Details:

  • An MoU on “Enhancing Innovation Ecosystems through an Innovation Handshake” under the framework of India – U.S. Commercial Dialogue was signed between India and the U.S.
  • The objective of the MoU is to connect the two sides’ dynamic startup ecosystems, address specific regulatory hurdles to cooperation, share information and best practices for startup fundraising and promote innovation and job growth, particularly in critical and emerging technologies (CET) as identified under India -U.S. initiative for Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET).
  • The MoU is expected to positively impact economic activity, attract investment, and generate employment, especially in start-ups working in CET areas.

India – US Commercial Dialogue:

  • The Commercial Dialogue (CD) is a cooperative undertaking at the ministerial level between India and the U.S. to facilitate regular discussion to deepen ties between business communities, encompassing regular government-to-government meetings to be held in conjunction with private sector meetings, with an aim to facilitate trade and maximize investment opportunities across a broad range of economic sectors.
