Context:
President of India to confer the National Teachers’ Award 2023 to 75 selected teachers on 5th September 2023.
About the National Teachers’ Awards:
- The purpose of the National Teachers’ Award is to celebrate the unique contribution of teachers in the country and to honour those teachers who, through their commitment and dedication, have not only improved the quality of education but also enriched the lives of their students.Â
- Each award carries a certificate of merit, a cash award of Rs. 50,000 and a silver medal.
- It is given on the occasion of Teachers’ Day which is observed on 5 September, the birth anniversary of former President Dr S Radhakrishnan.
- This year, the ambit of the National Teachers’ Award has been expanded to include teachers of the Department of Higher Education and the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.

Context:
Tool-kits and machinery to artisans under ‘Gramodyog Vikas Yojna’ distributed in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
About Gramodyog Vikas Yojna:
- It is one of the two components of the Khadi Gramodyog Vikas Yojana, a central sector scheme.
- The other component is the Khadi Vikas Yojana (KVY).
- The scheme was launched in March 2020.
- The scheme aims to promote and develop the village industries through common facilities, technological modernization, training, etc.
- The components of the scheme include R&D, product innovation, capacity building, marketing and publicity.
- The verticals under the scheme include the agro-based and food-processing industry, mineral-based industry, wellness and cosmetics industry, rural engineering and new technology, handmade paper, leather & plastics industry, and the service industry.
