HP police is an autonomous body under the Himachal Pradesh Government, which released a notification for the constable recruitment exam. It announced 1334 vacant constable posts for males, females and drivers in the Himachal Pradesh Police Department.

No notification for 2023 has yet been released by the conducting body. The update for the same will be entered here when the announcement for the same is made.

HP Police Constable Salary

Himachal Pradesh Police Department recruited men and women constables along with male constable drivers in the following pay scale: ₹ 5,910 to ₹ 20,200 with grade pay of ₹ 1,900 (initially starts from ₹ 7810)

The pay band increases to ₹ 10,300 to ₹ 34,800 with grade pay of ₹ 3200 after8 years of continuous service.

The eligibility criteria for HP police constable recruitment 2021 are segregated into 3 types: academic, age, and physical.

  • Academic Criteria

Candidates should have an educational qualification of class 10+2 pass for the minimum academic criteria for this recruitment.

  • Age Criteria

The minimum age to apply for the exam is 18 years and the upper age limit for the General category is 25 years. However, there are upper age relaxations available for certain categories.

No notification for 2022 has yet been released by the conducting body, but the application process for HP Police Constable 2021 was held between 1st October and 31st October 2021.

Recruitment Process of HP Police Constable

The District Recruitment Committee holds the 8 stages of recruitment procedure at every District Headquarters in Himachal Pradesh. Candidates will receive a notification for their date of recruitment separately. The recruitment process for HP Police Constable is as follows:

Stage 1: Submitting an online application and depositing its fee.

Stage 2: Receiving notification for recruitment schedule and place by District Headquarters in Himachal Pradesh.

Stage 3: Physical Standard Test

Candidates will have to undergo a screening process for the physical standard mentioned above. In addition, they must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria for the selection to the next stage in the procedure. Each candidate will receive a notification for physical standard screening separately.

Stage 4: Physical Eligibility Test (PET)

Candidates must qualify for the physical eligibility test at stage 4 after stage 3. The following table consists of the qualifying criteria of HP Police Constable as per different events:

Stage 5: Written Exam

Candidates will have to appear for a written test of 80 marks in 60 minutes at this HP Police Constable recruitment stage. It will comprise objective multiple-choice questions from subjects in the following table:

The minimum qualifying marks for SC and ST candidates is 40% and for other candidates 50%.

Stage 6: Document Scrutinisation and Marks Awarding for Certificates

Candidates must produce their documents determining their eligibility for scrutiny. The total marks of this evaluation will be 15.

Stage 7: Medical Evaluation

Candidates must attend a medical test by a Medical Board established by the Police Superintendent and chief medical officer. They can file an appeal against the report within 7 days of their results before their concerned DSPs. After that, the board shall review and publish the report within 30 days of the appeal.

Stage 8: Verifying candidates’ antecedent and character as per their judicial and police records.
