WBPSC Age Limit

The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) conducted its civil service examination for Prelims on August 22, 2021. The dates for the mains examination are yet to be announced.

The WBPSC has set many criteria for candidates for them to be eligible to write its examinations, one of them being the age limit. Candidates can check the WBPSC Eligibility page for more information. The notification for WBPSC 2023 is yet to be released, hence we will be given information as per the 2021 notification.

What is the Age Limit for WBPSC Exam 2023?

As per the notification released by the West Bengal Public Service Commission, the age limit criteria is as follows:

  • Candidates should not be below 21 years but also be not more than 36 years on the 1st January of the year of examination for services and posts included in Group ‘A’ & ’C’
  • In other words they must be born not earlier than the 2nd January, 1985 and not later than the 1st January, 2000).
  • For the West Bengal Police Service only (i.e. Group ‘B’ Service) age not below 20 years but not more than 36 years on the 1st January of the year of examination (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January, 1985 and not later than the 1st January, 2001)
  • For services and posts included in group ‘D’ the age should not be below 21 years and not more than 39 years on the 1st day of January of the year of the examination (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January, 1982 and not later than the 1st January, 2000)
  • Those candidates whose date of birth lies between the 1st January, 2000 & the 1st January, 2002 i.e. whose age is between 20 & 21 years as on 01.01.2023] may apply for Group B only.

What is the age limit for different posts in the WBPSC?

The candidates must be between the ages of 20 – 39 years, as per different posts. Upper age concessions will be provided to the candidates belonging to certain categories. The candidates must be able to prove their nationality or permanent residency in India with the required government-issued documents.

Are WBCS and WBPSC same?

The West Bengal Public Service Commission conducts the state Civil Services Exam, named WBCS (EXE) Exam. The exam takes place annually or as and when the Commission announces the date.
