Lok Sabha speaker
- The speaker is the leading, ceremonial head of the Lok Sabha.
- Article 93 of the constitution deals with the election of the speaker.
- A member of the ruling party is elected as the speaker of Lok Sabha.
- The speaker presides over the joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, maintains law and order in the house, interprets the Constitution of India, Rules of Procedure, and Conduct of the proceedings.
- The first speaker of Lok Sabha was GV Mavlankar.
