About the Kerala HSE Board: DHSE

Earlier known as the pre-degree courses, the Classes 11 and 12 are now under the authority of DHSE (Directorate of Higher Secondary Education). They are also called Plus One and Plus Two. Every year, the DHSE conducts the board exams for the Class 12 or higher secondary students. HSE Kerala students need to pass the board exams to be eligible to secure a seat for higher education.

Minimum Passing Marks for HSE Kerala

The exams for each of the HSE subjects will be conducted for a total of 100 marks. Out of this, students need to score at least 30% marks to pass the exam.

Exam Duration

The Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Psychology and Geography exams will be conducted for 2 hours. The Economics, Mathematics, Political Science, History and English exams will be conducted for 2.5 hours.

The results for the HSE Kerala exams are usually declared in the month of May/June. The DHSE releases the Class 12 board exam results online on their official website: keralaresults.nic.in and dhsekerala.gov.in. The pass percentage in the Kerala Board HSE exams over the past few years has been good. It has shown an upward trend from 2016 to 2018. The overall pass percentage for the year 2016 was 94.05%, 88.75% for 2018 and 85.13% for 2020.

The recent years have seen a gradual; decrease in the overall percentages of Kerala Board Class 12 exams. 2023 saw a decrease in overall pass percentage with 82.95% passing as compared to that of 83.87% students passing last year.
