Answer:

Number of blue sweaters sold in two days: 89

No, she sold more blue sweaters in 2 days.

Question 5:

Sangeeta went to the market with her grandpa.

She looked at the prices and said to her grandpa —

(a) Ghee is Rs 102 rupees costlier than biscuits.

(b) Price of oil and ghee altogether is more than Rs 200.

(c) Price of ghee and 10 kg rice is less than Rs 300.

(d) Oil costs Rs 40 more than a pack of biscuits.

Is Sangeeta right?

Can you find this without using paper and pencil?

Answer:

(a) Cost of Ghee = Rs 127

Cost of Biscuits= Rs 25

Amount by which Ghee is costlier than biscuit = 127 – 25 = 102

Thus, Sangeeta is correct.

(b) Price of Ghee = Rs 127

Price of Oil = Rs 70

  • 127 + 70 = Rs 197

So, Sangeeta is wrong in saying that the price of ghee and oil altogether is more than 200.

(c) Price of Ghee = Rs 127

Price of 10 kg Rice = Rs 150

The sum is Rs 277, which is less than 300.

Hence, Sangeeta is correct.

(d) Cost of biscuits= Rs 25

Cost of Oil = 70

No, the difference between the prices is Rs 45.

So, Sangeeta is incorrect.

Yes, we can do the calculations without using paper and pencil.
