NSO Class 6 Syllabus

The National Science Olympiad (NSO) is a Science competition for students studying between grades 1 and 12. The examination is held both at the international and zonal levels. The main motto of the examination is to promote the advancement of Science and Technology in day-to-day life. The National Science Olympiad is an exam conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation. This examination encourages the students to know their interest or choice in a branch of science such as physics, chemistry or biology. It also guides them in pursuing their career in that field.

Highlights of the Examination

The National Science Olympiad is a platform to lay the fundamentals for school students who want to evaluate their scientific and academic aptitude. NSO is mainly conducted on two levels, namely Level 1 and Level 2. Olympiad exams challenge students’ intellect and engrain a deeper understanding of scientific facts. This exam sharpens the students’ analytical thinking abilities.

  • The exam is an objective-type test consisting of 35 multiple-choice questions for classes 1 to 4 and 50 multiple-choice questions for classes 5 to 12.
  • To attempt the second level of the NSO examination, the student must hold a position in the top 5% of students class-wise, who appear for the 1st level exam, and will qualify for the next level.

NSO Examination Pattern Class 6

The exam is an objective-type test consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions for Class 6. The examination is divided into three sections.

  • Section 1 consists of questions based on Logical Reasoning
  • Section 2 consists of questions based on Science
  • Section 3, the questions are based on Higher-Order Thinking Skills and are called the Achievers section

Class 6 Syllabus for NSO

The syllabus for NSO is as per the lessons which a grade 6 student studies. The student can belong to any of the academic boards, such as CBSE, ICSE or any other state board. Any specified curriculum textbook for seventh-grade learners’ capability that incorporates the above-mentioned subjects can be used for preparation. The student can use NSO sample papers for Class 6 that are available on the main site for further guidance on assessment patterns and levels of difficulty of the assessment for a deeper understanding and preparation for the exam. Level I Olympiad exam questions focus on 60% of the existing class coursework and 40% of the preceding course content.
