The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts an exam for Specialist Officers (SO). The SOs would fill vacancies in posts such as Agricultural Officer, Law Officer, Marketing Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, HR/Personnel Officer & IT Officer.

The exam pattern in the Prelims of IBPS SO varies for different positions. The exam pattern for the post of IT Officer, Agriculture Field Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer are as follows:

IBPS SO Mains Exam Pattern and Interview

The IBPS SO Mains Exam Pattern is designed to test the professional knowledge of the candidates. The exam pattern is as follows:

Interview Stage: The candidates who have passed the Prelims and Mains will attend the interview stage. The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). 

The weightage (ratio) of the Online Main Examination and interview will be 80:20 respectively. The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of total scores obtained by the candidates in the Online Main Examination.

Is there negative marking for the IBPS SO Exam?

There will be a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at a corrected score.

Do candidates have to qualify for all the stages of the IBPS SO Exam?

Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.

Are Calculators allowed at the Examination?

No calculator (separate or with a watch), books, slide ruler, notebooks or written notes will be allowed inside the examination hall.
