Overview of the  Eligibility Criteria for the Post of Indian Overseas Bank Specialist Officer (SO)

It is important for candidates who wish to apply for the upcoming Indian Overseas Bank Specialist Officer (SO) exam to read the eligibility criteria carefully. Candidates who do not fulfil the eligibility criteria given in the official notification will not be considered for the post of Specialist officer. 

After selection, candidates should also fulfil the ‘general eligibility’ criteria. The ‘general eligibility’ criteria include medical fitness, character etc. Candidates should be medically fit and also provide character and caste certificates (if applicable) for verification after selection.

With reference to the IOB notification released on 8 February, 2021, for the post of  Information Security and Information System Audit in MMG Scale II & MMG Scale III, the following eligibility criteria were laid down. 

A. Nationality Criterion for the Posts of Indian Overseas Bank Specialist Officer (SO)

Aspirants interested in applying for the position of IOB Specialist officer must meet one of the nationality requirements listed in the table below. Aspirants who belong to categories 2, 3, 4 and 5 have to produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. On final selection, these candidates (category 2, 3, 4 and 5) will be given the letter of appointment only when they produce the  eligibility certificate given by the Government of India.

5 A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African  countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and  Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently  settling in India
