Salary for the Post of Indian Overseas Bank Specialist Officer (SO)

Probation, Bond and Transfer for the Post of Indian Overseas Bank Specialist Officer (SO)

  • Candidates who are chosen for the Specialist Officer position are placed on probation for two years (active service) starting from the date they join the Bank. The Bank decides whether to confirm them in the Bank’s service in accordance with the Officers’ Service Regulation (OSR).
  • Selected applicants chosen for employment should sign a financial service indemnity bond for Rs.1,000,00 (Rupees one lakh) for service lasting at least three years.
  • The candidates are initially assigned to the Central Office in Chennai. However, they can be transferred or posted at any time to any of the Bank’s Branches or Offices, anywhere in India, on the terms and conditions that the Bank may determine, at its sole discretion.

  • Visit the official website of the Indian Overseas Bank i.e. iob.in.
  • Candidates should go to the “careers” page and click on “Recruitment of Information Security & Information Audit  Officers in MMG Scale II & III – 2023-24”.
  • A new window will open. Applicants should first  register themselves online by clicking “Click here to Register Online”. After registration, the registration number will be generated by the system. The same will be sent to the email ID of the candidate. Applicants must note down the registration number and password for future reference.
  • Candidates should login using the registration number and password and click on the link  “Click here to Apply Online”.
  • On the new page, candidates should fill in all the required information as specified in the online application form.
  • After filling out the necessary details, applicants should upload their signature and photograph.
  • Once all the necessary information is provided, candidates should once again check the information  by clicking on the “Recheck”/ “Preview” button

The Indian Overseas Bank Specialist Officer exam is conducted in two phases, i.e., an online examination and interview. The online test is the first stage of the SO recruitment process. It is of objective type consisting of multiple choice questions on reasoning, English, quantitative aptitude and professional knowledge (based on the post for which the candidate has applied).   • Each incorrect response will result in a deduction of 0.25 marks or one-fourth of the total marks allotted to the question.
  • Qualifying exams include reasoning, English and quantitative aptitude. Marks obtained in these papers will not be added to the final scores.
  • The maximum marks assigned for the professional knowledge test is 80.
  • Each professional knowledge test is 30 minutes long (for each post), and candidates who have applied for several posts will take the professional knowledge test for each position in the same session, one after the other without any break.
  • Based on factors including educational background, prior work experience, etc., the Indian Overseas Bank reserves the right to call just the necessary number of applicants for the online test.
  • On the Indian Overseas Bank’s official website, candidates will be able to find the registration numbers of those who have been shortlisted and are qualified to take the online test. Applicants who have been shortlisted will get an email with information about the online test (date, venue, ID proof etc.)

Indian Overseas Bank Specialist Officer (SO) Interview

Applicants who pass the cut-off marks for the online test will qualify for the IOB SO interview. Candidates who are shortlisted should keep the following in mind:

  • Interviews for the IOB SO exam may be conducted in the online or offline mode at various centres based on the decision of the Indian Overseas Bank. 
  • Candidates who are shortlisted for the interview will receive their call letters on their registered email ID. The call letter for the interview comprises information related to the venue, date of interview, etc.
  • Any requests to change interview venues or dates will not be granted by the IOB.
  • The bank maintains the right, if necessary, to hold an additional selection process for a particular group of candidates and is free to alter, add to, or cancel the date, time, and centre of the interview.
  • Applicants must submit the following documents during the interview:
    • Printout of the valid Interview Call Letter of the candidate
    • Photo Identity Proof such as Passport/ Aadhaar / e-Aadhaar Card / PAN Card/ Driving Licence/ Voter’s Card.
    • Valid system generated printout of the online application form registered
    • Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate or SSLC/ Std. X Certificate with DOB)
    • Consolidated Mark sheets and relevant certificates for educational qualifications.
    • Work Experience documents and certificates such as current employer’s, appointment letters, relieving letters, pay or Salary Slips etc.
    • Certificates, namely CISA/ CISSP/ CISM / DISA / Certified Cyber Forensic Professional (CCFP), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFS), Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH).
    • Caste Certificate given by a competent authority in the prescribed format
    • PwBD candidates have to submit disability certificate issued by the District Medical Board in the prescribed format 
    • Candidates who are serving in Government or Public Sector Undertakings have to produce in original a “No Objection Certificate” from their employer during the interview.
    • Persons eligible for age relaxation under “Persons affected by 1984 riots” have to  produce relevant certificates from the District Magistrate.
    • A domicile certificate has to be produced by the persons who are eligible for age relaxation under “Persons ordinarily domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 1-1-80 to 31-12-89”.
    • Any other relevant certificate or document in support of eligibility (if applicable).
  • Applicants will be finally selected on the basis of marks obtained by them in the online exam and interview.

The Indian Overseas Bank conducts the Specialist Officer exam at a limited number of centres/venues in the country. The admit card for the online test and the interview comprises the name of the venue, its address and other details pertaining to the Specialist Officer (SO) examination. Points to Remember: IOB Specialist officer (SO) Exam Centre

    • Applicants  should be at the test centre at least 15 minutes prior to the reporting time specified in the call letter. Latecomers won’t be permitted to take the exam.
    • Candidates should carry their admit card, original photo ID proof and a photocopy of the photo ID proof to the exam centre.
    • Ration cards and learner’s licence are not considered valid ID proofs for the exam. Applicants should ensure that their name on the ID card and the admit card must exactly match. Candidates are allowed to carry only the following valid photo ID proofs to the exam centre:

    • The bank has the right to cancel any of the examination centres and/or add some additional centres depending on the response, administrative viability, and other criteria. The bank reserves the right to allocate candidates to any centre other than the one they have chosen, although candidates will, whenever practical, be allotted the centre of their choice.
    • Any requests to change the exam centre will not be granted by the bank.
    • According to the Bank’s preference, the interview will take place at any Centre throughout India (Physical or Online Mode through video conference).
    • Applicants who plan to use a scribe should also bring a completed, signed, and stamped form for the scribe, along with a photo.
  • Candidates should regularly check their email and the official website of the bank to get recent updates on the exam. 

Results  for the Post of Indian Overseas Bank Specialist Officer (SO)

The IOB Specialist Officer exam consists of two stages, i.e., the online test and the interview. After the completion of the online test, the results are published on the official website. An email with information about the time, place, and other details of the interview will be sent to candidates who have been selected for the personality test. The call letter will include details on the personal interview. These candidates have to carry documents such as the consolidated mark sheets and relevant certificates, proof of date of birth, experience certificate, etc. for the interview. 

After conducting the personal interview, the final results are released on IOB’s website. The final list of selected applicants is prepared using the candidates’ test and interview scores.

  • Visit the official website of the Central Bank of India i.e. iob.in.
  • On the homepage of the main website, select the “Career” tab..
  • Search for “Final Provisionally Selected Candidates Registration Numbers – Post Wise” and click on the link.
  • On the new page candidates can find the PDF comprising the registration numbers of provisionally selected applicants for various posts.

IOB SO exam marksheets will be available on the official website after the completion of the selection process.
