The UPSC prescribes the number of attempts as six in general and provides relaxation for some categories, which includes candidates who belong to the Scheduled Castes. The below table data is sourced from the official notification of UPSC, and it shows that there is no restriction on the number of attempts for the candidates who belong to the Scheduled Castes category.
UPSC attempts for SC | |
Category to which the candidate belongs to | Number of attempts |
SC (Scheduled Castes) | Unlimited |
PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability) for SC | Unlimited |
In other words, the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes will have an unlimited number of attempts in the UPSC Exam.
Even though there is no restriction on the number of limits for Scheduled Castes, there are other eligibility criteria to be fulfilled by these candidates. For example, age limit, nationality, and educational qualifications.
