  4. The Origin and Development of Modern Alphabets: c. 1850-800 BCE: Various civilizations such as the Greeks, Phoenicians, Egyptians etc develop their own writing systems by the creation of their own alphabets.
  5. First Legal Code: The first legal code by the Babylonian king, Hammurabi  is issued in 1754 BC which governs all aspects of life from land ownership to conduct in war
  6. As Knowledge of Iron Metallurgy Spreads, the Bronze Age Ends and the Iron Age Begins: c. 1200-500 BCE: Various civilisations make use of Iron tools and weapons that changes the nature of civilization itself.
  7. Rise of Alexander the Great ( 336-323 BCE): Alexander the Great leads a campaign of conquest from Greece all the way to India. His campaigns are cited as the first clash of Western and Eastern military in the known world. His campaigns also increase contacts between both the worlds
  8. Rise of the Roman Empire (800 BC – 476 AD): The ancient roman civilisation emerges as a powerhouse in Western Europe and its achievements changes the nature of European politics to come
  9. End of the (Western) Roman Empire – 476 AD: The western half of the Roman Empire came to an end at the hands of the Germanic tribes led by Odoacer, deposing the emperor Romulus Augustus.
