Shreyans is a resident of Ajmer in Rajasthan. He completed his Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT–B), in 2015. Shreyans Kumat Background
Shreyans did most of his schooling in Kishangarh and studied Class-10 at Ajmer’s Mayoor School. He pursued his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B).
Before attempting the Civil services exam he had worked with Ernst & Young (EY) for about two years.
Preparation Journey
Shreyans started looking for the details of the Civil Services Examination during the second year of his job at EY.
“I had a few online as well as offline coaching programs from institutes for some time; thereafter I did self-study,”- Shreyans.
Shreyans believe both online coaching and offline helped. He feels it is a mix of both that makes up a good preparation material. He also mentioned that the offline classes helped him to build the basis on which he used as a platform to cover other parts of the syllabus for which the internet helped.
The toppers main agenda for preparation was to make sure that he could reproduce what he studies in a concise manner. Shreyans gave more importance to the topics he studies rather than hours of preparation. He used to study for 6-10 hours per day, ensuring he completes the topics he has panned to complete for the day.
Shreyans cracked the Civil Services Examination in his very first attempt. He had chosen Anthropology as his optional subject for the Mains exam.
UPSC Topper Marks for 2018
The UPSC released the marks scored by the successful candidates indicating the subject-wise breakup of the marks for 2018. Shreyans Kumat scored a total of 1071 marks out of a total of 2025 marks.
