Context:

Italy honours the contribution of the Indian Army during the Second World War.

Details:

• Remembering the supreme sacrifices of Indian soldiers, the Commune of Monotone (in Italy) and Italian Military historians have unveiled the “V.C Yeshwant Ghadge Sundial Memorial” at Montone (Perugia, Italy), as a tribute to the Indian troops who fought during the Italian Campaign during the Second World War.
• The memorial also honours ​​Naik Yeshwant Ghadge, Victoria Cross, who was killed in action fighting on the heights of the Upper Tiber Valley.
• Indian soldiers played a central role in the Italian Campaign during the Second World War, wherein more than 50,000 Indian Army soldiers from the 4th, 8th and 10th Divisions were involved. 
• Out of the 20 Victoria Crosses awarded in Italy, six were won by Indian soldiers. 
• The memorial is in the form of a live Sundial. The motto of the memorial is “Omines Sub Eodem Sole” which translates in English as “We all live under the same sun”.

2. Tele-MANAS

Prelims: Tele-MANAS initiative; National Tele Mental Health Programme

Context:

The National Tele Mental Health Programme crossed a significant milestone; over 200,000 calls have been received on the Tele-MANAS Helpline since its launch in October 2022.

Details:

• The National Tele Mental Health Programme was launched to strengthen mental health service delivery in the country.
• With 42 functioning Tele MANAS cells in 31 States and UTs, the service is currently catering to 1,300+ calls per day in 20 languages. Over 1900 counsellors have been trained who are running the first-line services.
• The most common concerns encountered in these calls are reported to be sadness of mood, sleep disturbance, stress and anxiety.
