1. Peace Committee in Manipur

Syllabus: GS 3, Security.

Mains: Manipur Violence.

Context: The government of India constitutes a peace committee in Manipur.

Details:

• The government of India has constituted Peace Committee in India under the chairmanship of Governor, Manipur.
• Other members of the committee are the Chief Minister, a few Ministers in the State Government, MP, MLAs, and leaders of different political parties.
• It also includes educationists, artists, former civil servants, social workers, litterateurs, and representatives of different ethnic groups.
• The purpose of the committee is to facilitate a peacemaking process among various ethnic groups of the State, ensuring peaceful dialogue between conflicting groups/parties. 
• This would strengthen the social cohesiveness in the state.

2. G20 Development Ministers’ Meeting

Syllabus: GS 2, International Relations.

Mains: Regional and Global Groupings.

Prelims: G20 Development Ministers’ Meeting.

Details:

• The G20 Development Ministers’ Meeting will be organized between 11-13 June 2023 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
• The meeting will be chaired by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
• It will provide an opportunity to build consensus on actions for accelerating the achievement of the SDGs and foster synergies between the development, environment, and climate agendas.
• It is suggested that decisions taken at the meeting will be taken forward to the United Nations SDG Summit that will take place in September 2023 (in New York). 
• The event will consist of two main sessions:
  • Multilateralism: Collective Actions for Accelerating Progress towards SDGs
  • Green Development: A LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) Approach
• Around 200 delegates are expected to attend the meeting. Cultural programmes and exhibitions will be organized to give a glimpse into the rich culture and tradition of Varanasi.
