1. National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT)

Context – The Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman reviewed projects under NICDIT.
Details –
- The Union Finance Minister chaired the second meeting of the Apex Monitoring Authority constituted to review the infrastructural projects under National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT).
- The Apex Monitoring Authority comprises the Finance Minister as Chairperson, Minister-in-charge, Minister of Railways, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, Minister of Shipping, Vice Chairman NITI Aayog and Chief Ministers of states concerned.
- The Finance Minister laid emphasis on the increased coordination between the centre and state governments and they should collectively work as ‘Team India’. The FIRE Corridors, F -Freight, I- Industrial, R-Railways and E-Expressways will ignite industrialisation and economic development in the country.
- The meeting provided a platform for key stakeholders to discuss and exchange ideas on the progress, challenges and future strategies related to the National Industrial Corridor Development Program. It provided an opportunity to align efforts, enhance collaboration and accelerate the development of industrial infrastructure across the country.
- The National Industrial Corridor Programme, is being developed on the overall framework of PM Gati Shakti Master Plan  to provide a systematic, multi modal connectivity to various economic zones for a seamless movement of people, goods and services resulting in efficient conduct of logistics and economic activities.
- The National Industrial Corridor Development Program aims to establish a network of industrial corridors that will serve as engines of economic growth, promote industrialisation and create employment opportunities across the country. It focuses on developing world class infrastructure, attracting investments and fostering sustainable industrial development.

Prelims – PLI 2.0
Context – The union government has notified the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme 2.0 for IT hardware, worth ₹17,000 crore and the window of applications under the scheme will open from June 1, 2023.
Details –
- The Union Cabinet approved the introduction of the PLI (Product Linked Incentive) scheme 2.0 for IT hardware on 17th May, 2023 to enhance India’ manufacturing capabilities and increase exports.Â
- The new scheme will extend an average incentive of around 5%, more than double the 2% incentive offered in the previous version to make laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs, servers and USFF (Ultra Small Form factor) devices in India. The scheme will contribute significantly to achieve electronics manufacturing turnover of about $300 billion by 2025-26.
- The eligibility of incentives will be based on the quantum of investments made and on incremental sale of manufactured goods. Global, domestic and hybrid (both global & domestic) companies are eligible to participate. Also, the approved applicants of existing PLI will be allowed to apply under PLI 2.0.

Context – The Tele-Law programme achieved a new milestone with 40 lakh beneficiaries empowered with pre-litigation advice.
Details –
- The Tele-Law programme under the Ministry of Law and Justice achieved a new milestone with 40 lakh beneficiaries across the country empowered with pre-litigation advice. The programme is one of the many initiatives undertaken by the GoI to promote inclusivity and accessibility for citizens in the judicial sphere.
About Tele-Law Programme –
- The programme was launched in 2017 and is an e-interface mechanism to seek legal advice and consultation at pre-litigation stage with the aim of ‘Reaching the Unreached’.
- The tele-law programme connects needy and marginalised people in need of legal aid with the Panel Lawyers via video conferencing/telephonic facilities available at Common Service Centres (CSCs) situated at the panchayat level.Â
- Â The service can also be accessed through the Tele-Law Mobile App (available on Android and iOS).
- India’s Judiciary has taken various steps, like launching an e-version of Supreme Court Reports, translation of judgements in multiple regional languages, National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) among others, to help modernise courts.
- The National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) is a database of orders, judgments and case details of connected District & Subordinate Courts and High Courts created as an online platform on which data is updated on a near real-time basis.Â

Context – The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi conveyed his best wishes on the occasion of Goa Statehood Day.Â
About Goa Statehood Day –
- After India gained independence in 1947, Goa which was a Portuguese colony remained a colony till 1961.
- In 1961, GoI launched Operation Vijay and annexed Daman & Diu islands and Goa with the Indian mainland.
- Goa, which was a part of the Union territory of Goa, Daman and Diu, was accorded statehood on 30th May, 1987.
