Context:
3rd Audit Diwas celebrations.
What is Audit Diwas?
- November 16 is observed as Audit Diwas every year.
- Nov 16 2023 marks the 163rd anniversary of the appointment of the first Auditor General of India, Edmund Drummond in 1860.
- The theme for 2023 is ‘Collaboration for Good Governance’.

National Press Day 2023 held on 16 November.
National Press Day:
- The day is celebrated to commemorate the formation of the Press Council of India on this day in 1966.
- The theme for 2023 is ‘Media in the Era of Artificial Intelligence’.

Prelims: Exercise Mitra Shakti
Mains: India – Sri Lanka relations
Context:
The 9th edition of the bilateral military exercise between India and Sri Lanka Exercise Mitra Shakti commenced in Aundh (Pune).Â
Ex Mitra Shakti:
- The exercise is being held from 16 to 29 November with participation from around 120 Indian Army personnel.
- Apart from personnel from both armies, air force personnel from both countries are also participating in the exercise.
- The aim of the exercise is to jointly rehearse the conduct of sub-conventional operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.Â
- The scope of the exercise includes synergising joint responses during counter-terrorist operations.Â
- Both sides will practice tactical actions such as raid, search and destroy missions, heliborne operations, etc.Â
- In addition, Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR), combat reflex shooting and Yoga will also form part of the exercise curriculum.Â
- Helicopters, drones and counter-unmanned aerial systems will also be used during the exercise.
- Sharing of best practices will further enhance the level of defence cooperation between the Indian Army and the Sri Lankan Army.Â
