What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It is a scientific way of effecting change in a person using the power of language and our thinking process. It is a behavioral technology and an approach to communication and personal development created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, they came up with the concept in the United States in the year 1970 through a process of modeling. Richard Bandler started with observing people and recognizing patterns of behaviour. NLP was born through the process of recording and documenting the behavior patterns. According to NLP there is a connection between our neurological processes, language and behaviour. Our experiences form our behaviour and attitude which can be changed using language to achieve specific goals in life. It has also been used to treat phobias, depression, mental illnesses, myopia, allergies, common cold and learning disorders.

NLP uses communication and power of the subconscious mind and is taught in almost all developed countries as a system and inner transformation . It is also used to heal psychological problems, induce states of success, change behavioural patterns and more. The language that we use to talk to others and to ourselves affects our behaviour and our understanding of life.

What are the main components of NLP?

NLP uses the power of communication and our subconscious mind to effect change. The main components of NLP are:

  1. Subjectivity- According to NLP we view the world subjectively as a representation of our experiences.
  1. Consciousness- NLP has established that our consciousness has 2 parts i.e. conscious and unconscious.
  1. Learning- NLP uses ‘modeling’ to codify and reproduce an exemplary expertise in any field through sensory and linguistic representations.

This fascinating new field of psychology can be explored without bringing any drastic changes to your lifestyle. It can be used to improve learning abilities, enhancing creativity, achieving emotional balance and a lot more. You do not need to invest years in understanding the human mind. NLP make it all easy and achievable. You can master the techniques just in a few months to bring about desired changes.

How effective is NLP?

NLP is already being used effectively in the field of sports, healing and well being. It is said to improve efficiency, chances of success and happiness. It can bring about many positive changes for a better you. NLP has emerged as one of the most effective ways of self transformation and has left traditional psychology far behind.
