Vaishali , from Delhi, bagged the All India Rank 23 iin the exam and became one of toppers of UPSC 2022. Vaishali AIR 23 Background

Vaishali was born and raised in Delhi. She completed her graduation from Indraprastha College for Women. Vaishali first job was as a junior assistant in the NCERT then as a judicial assistant Delhi District.

By the time she attempted the UPSC exam, she was working as a technical assistant for the DRDO for three years. Her hobbies are keeping fit and creative writing.

Challenges faced by Vaishali during the UPSC Exam

  • The most challenging aspect for Vaishali was effective time management.
  • She sad that one needs to have an analytical mind in order to clear the UPSC exam
  • Instead of the number of hours one news to put one should be mindful of the quality of the hours spent in preparing for the UPSC.
  • Vaishali was working as well as preparing for the UPSC simultaneously. This made her feel that she was putting far less efforts as compared to the candidates who would prepare full time.

UPSC Exam Preparation Strategies

  1. Master your Detailed Application Form. Be aware of what you are writing in it. Mastering your DAF will give you more leverage among your fellow competitors in your UPSC Interview.
  2. Dedicate at least a year to Civil Services exam preparation and make a plan of action to get started.
  3. Prepare for UPSC CSE with a study plan that you know you can stick to. Developing a plan of action and sticking to it can also be quite useful.
  4. Don’t overspend on a lot of study materials and resources. If you want to avoid the confusion that comes from the difference in the explanation of topics, it’s best to focus on a small number of books and materials.
  5. Internet use can be distracting, so limit your time on it.
  6. Stay calm. Candidates take some time to gain momentum for UPSC preparation that works. It is best to stay focused and avoid an overwhelming attitude towards preparation.
  7. Be thorough with your UPSC syllabus. Cover as many topics as possible and gain an in-depth knowledge of topics.
  8. Practice multiple mock tests and mock interviews. This will help you gain insights into your strengths and weaknesses, and you will focus better on the preparation in a directed manner.   9. Be updated with current affairs and news. Practice daily reading of 2 to 3 newspapers on various topics.
