The National Law University of Delhi offers the All Indian Law Entrance Test – AILET for admission to flagship law programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. The AILET 2023 exam was conducted by NLU on 11th December 2022. The university has also extended the deadline for submitting online applications. The National Law University of Delhi has revised the syllabus for the AILET. In the revised AILET exam syllabus, the test will have only three sections instead of five. The authorities have removed the Legal Aptitude and Mathematics sections from the form.

Changes in AILET 2022 Syllabus for BA LLB?

  • Besides eliminating legal aptitude and maths sections, even the sectional weightage has changed. The number of sections has been reduced, but the total number of questions remains at 150. The weightage of the Logical Reasoning section is now almost 50%.
  • Questions about the Rule of Law have been added to the reasoning section to test a candidate’s understanding of the legal principles of India. However, no prior legal knowledge or technical understanding of the legal basis/terminology is required to answer these questions.

Determination of AILET 2023 Merit Rank

If two or more candidates achieve the same score on the AILET 2023 exam, the intermediate benefits will be determined in the following order:

  • Grades in the logical reasoning section
  • Seniority
  • Computerized draw

The questionnaire will have 150 MCQ questions, each allotted one mark. There is a minus mark of 0.25 points for each question answered incorrectly. The total time for the LLB exam is 1.5 hours (90 minutes).

The AILET LLM entrance exam consists of 100 objective questions and two subjective questions. Questions are from various legal disciplines in English, logical reasoning, and basic law branches and courses.

What’s new in the AILET 2022 curriculum for the LLM program?

  • There are two sections, Section A and Section B, wherein Section A will contain MCQs, and Section B will be descriptive.
  • Section A consists of two parts: English Part A (50 questions; 50 points) and Part B legal reasoning (50 questions; 50 points).
  • Section B contains 8-10 questions from various legal disciplines. Candidates must answer any two (25 points each).
  • Section B Scoring – NLU Delhi puts candidates on the Candidate List based on Section A’s score. The number of candidates will be three times the number of seats available in each category. Section B will only be scored for the finalist.
  • Final AILET 2022 Merit Rank will be created with sections A and B scores in mind.
  • Tiebreaker – If multiple candidates have the same score, the merit rank will be considered based on seniority and computerized draw
  • The test time is 1.5 hours or 90 minutes.
