EPFO Social Security Assistant (SSA) Exam Notification 2023

A  total of 2674 vacancies have been announced for the post of EPFO Social Security Assistant Notification 2023. The online application window to register for the exam opened on 27 June 2019. The exam was conducted in three phases at various exam centres throughout the country. The final results of the EPFO SSA 2019 examination were declared on 21 January, 2021.

As per EPFO SSA Recruitment 2023 Notification, interested and eligible candidates can now apply online for EPFO SSA & Stenographer vacancies as the registration till 26th April 2023. Vacancies for the Post of EPFO Social Security Assistant (SSA)

Candidates will be considered only for the vacancies within the region where they take the exam.

Applicants will be shortlisted for Phase II in a ratio of 1:10, or roughly 10 times the number of openings in each category. Similarly, candidates will be shortlisted for Phase III in a ratio of 1:5, on the basis of their performance in Phase II.

Salary for the Post of EPFO Social Security Assistant (SSA)

The Level- 4 of the Pay Matrix (Civilian employees) (Gr. ’C’) applies to candidates who are selected for the post of Social Security Assistant. Initially they get an entry pay of Rs 25,500 as per the 7th Pay Commission as well as other allowances as per the rules.

Points to Remember: EPFO SSA Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must make sure they enter their true birthdate in the online application form. It must match the birthdate provided on the Matriculation/SSLC/Xth Class or an equivalent  document.
• After submitting the online application, candidates cannot make any changes to it. Therefore, before submitting an application for the exam, candidates should carefully read the official notification and instructions provided by the EPFO.
• For SC/ST/OBC-NCL (Non Creamy Layer) applicants who apply for unreserved positions, there is no age relaxation.
• PwBD applicants who intend to apply for UR positions will only be given a relaxation in the upper age restriction  as applicable to the UR PwBD candidates only.
• Candidates’ applications that don’t meet the requirements will be summarily rejected.
• Aspirants cannot apply for the EPFO SSA exam if they have not received their final exam results.

EPFO Social Security Assistant (SSA) Exam Pattern

There are three phases to the EPFO Social Security Assistant (SSA) examination i.e., the Preliminary exam, Main exam and Computer Skill Test or Computer Data Entry Test. More information related to the three phases and the exam pattern is given below:

Phase 1 (Preliminary Exam)

Phase 1 is an objective type exam. It includes multiple-choice questions on English,  numerical aptitude and reasoning ability. The table below provides more details on the SSA exam’s duration, number of questions asked in each area of the EPFO SSA Phase 1 exam etc.

• The marks scored in the preliminary exam are not taken into account when determining candidates’ final rank.
• Each incorrect response will result in a deduction of one-fourth of the total marks given to the question.
• To qualify for Phase 2 of the EPFO SSA test, candidates must meet both the sectional and overall cut-off marks.

Phase 2 (Main Examination)

Questions of both the objective and subjective types are included in the Phase 2 exam. Questions on reasoning, economics, english, general and financial knowledge, and quantitative ability can be found in the objective test. • There is negative marking and 1/4th of the marks assigned to the questions will be deducted for every wrong answer.
• After the main objective exam, a descriptive examination will be conducted. The test will be held online, and candidates must type their responses using a keyboard.
• Candidates can take the Phase 3 computer data entry exam if they pass the Phase 2 EPFO SSA exam.
• The marks scored in phase 2 are used to determine the rank of the candidate in the merit list.

Phase 3 (Computer Skill Test or Computer Data Entry Test)

The computer skill test is qualifying in nature and the marks scored by candidates in phase 3 will not be used for final selection. The aim of the computer data entry test or skill test is to evaluate a candidate’s speed and accuracy. Candidates are expected to make a minimum of 5000 key depressions per hour in the data entry test.

Before applying for the EPFO SSA examination, candidates should go through the eligibility requirements given in the official notification. Aspirants can follow the steps given below to apply for the EPFO SSA examination.

• Visit the official website of the EPFO i.e. epfindia.gov.in
• Click on the ‘Miscellaneous’ tab on the homepage. Select ‘Recruitments’ in the dropdown menu.
• A new page will appear. Search for ‘Direct Recruitment of SSA (Year)’ and Click on the link.
• On the new page, click on ‘Apply Online’. 
• Candidates should first register themselves. A registration number will be sent to the email address of the candidate.
• Applicants should login again using the same registration number and password. They should fill in the required personal information, educational qualification etc.
• Candidates should upload the photograph, signature and left hand thumb impression.
• After filling out the online application form, they should pay the application fee.
• After completing the process and submitting the online application, they should save the PDF of the application for future reference.

• Candidates should ensure that they read the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam.
• The photograph, signature and left hand thumb impression should be uploaded as per the guidelines given in the official notification.
• Candidates should make sure that they have a valid email ID and phone number before applying for the examination.
• The EPFO SSA application fee has to be paid online only.  
• Candidates who have not received their final results are not eligible to apply for the exam.

EPFO Social Security Assistant (SSA) Admit Card

Applicants can follow the steps given below to download their EPFO SSA examination.

1. Visit the official website of the EPFO i.e. epfindia.gov.in
2. Click on the ‘Miscellaneous’ tab on the homepage. Select ‘Recruitments’ in the dropdown menu.
3. A new page will appear. Search for EPFO SSA Admit card notice on the new page. Click on the link given in the notice.
4. Login using the registration number or roll number and Password or Date of Birth 
5. Download the PDF and save it for future reference.

Points to Remember: EPFO SSA Admit Card

• Candidates should download the information handout for the EPFO SSA examination along with the admit card.
• Applicants will receive information related to the date to download the admit card via SMS and email.
• Candidates should affix a recent passport size photograph on the admit card (preferably the same).
• Candidates should carry the admit card, photo identity proof and photocopy of the photo identity proof to the examination centre.
• Candidates should reach the examination centre at the reporting time mentioned in the call letter.
• Applicants should ensure that the photo identity proof that they carry to the exam centre should bear exactly the same name as it appears in the call letter. Ration Card and Learner’s Driving Licence are not valid ID proofs. The following photo ID proofs are allowed for the EPFO SSA exam:
  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • Permanent  Driving Licence
  • Voter’s Card
  • Bank Passbook with photograph
  • Photo identity proof  issued by a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead along with photograph
  • Photo identity proof issued by a People’s Representative on official letterhead along with  photograph
  • Valid recent Identity Card issued by a recognized College or University 
  • Aadhar card or E-Aadhar Card with a photograph
  • Employee ID
  • Bar Council Identity card with photograph

EPFO SSA Document Verification

Candidates who pass the Phase 2 main exam have to upload the necessary documents and certificates as per the guidelines given in the official notification released by the EPFO. The following documents and certificates have to be uploaded on the EPFO’s website on or before the date mentioned in the notice.

• Candidates should submit or upload the document on or before the date mentioned in the notice released by the EPFO.
• The maximum size of the file or document that is to be uploaded on EPFO’s website is 200 KB.
• The format of the documents and certificates that have to be uploaded are given in the notice released by the EPFO.
