  • The UPPSC PCS 2023 Prelims exam  was conducted on 14th May 2023.
  • The mains exam for UPPSC PCS will start from 23rd September 2023 onward.

PCS Exam Eligibility 2023

The UPPSC PCS Eligibility Criteria for 2023 has been updated below based on the official PCS notification.

For Age Relaxation  in case of Emergency Commissioned /Short Service Commissioned Officers:

  • The commission has mentioned that all those emergency commissioned or short service commissioned officers who have not been released by the army. Still, their rehabilitation stands extended have to meet following eligibility conditions:
    • The requirement of a certificate of the competent authority of Army, Navy, Air Force and a certificate confirming no disciplinary action is pending against them
    • A written undertaking specifying their exit from army service if and when they are recruited in the PCS  services

    UPPSC PCS 2019 - UPPSC PCS Eligibility (Age Relaxation for Emergency Commissioned/Short Service Officers))

For claiming the benefit of reservation or age relaxation, candidates must:

  1. Have a domicile of UP
  2. A category certificate from the competent authority
  3. In the case of women candidates, the caste/domicile certificate issued from father’s side shall be considered valid
  4. Male candidates with more than one wife (living) are not eligible. (Unless the Governor of the state grants exemption.)
  5. Female candidates who have married a person already having a wife (living) are not eligible.  (Unless the Governor of the state grants exemption.)
  6. Female candidates who are pregnant (12 weeks or more) will be declared temporarily unfit.
  7. Candidates claiming age relaxation/reservation in more than one category for the UP PCS Exam shall be entitled to only one concession, whichever is more beneficial.

  • Minimum age – 21 years
  • Maximum age – 40 years

UPPSC Qualification

The educational qualification for the PCS exam is:

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognised University or equivalent qualification

The PCS exam eligibility also includes Physical Measurements/Fitness for certain posts. Candidates have to undergo a medical test after the interview to be considered eligible.

      There is a 5 years of age relaxation for ex-serviceman (Native of Uttar Pradesh) who has rendered five years in service, which makes maximum age limit to be 45 years.

      As per the UPPSC Eligibility Criteria, the minimum age of the aspirant has to be 21 and maximum 32.       Yes, you can sit for UPPSC PCS till you attain 40 years of age. If this year you have not applied for PCS 2020, you can apply for PCS 2021.

      The maximum age limit is 40 for UPPSC exam which is Uttar Pradesh PCS Exam. The maximum age limit for UPSC (which recruits for IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS etc.) for general category aspirants is 32.

    • No, that is not a requirement. Natives of other states can very well sit for the UPPSC exam, however they can’t claim reservation.

    • The final result should be with you on/before the last date of UPPSC PCS registration. If that is not the case, then you may sit for the next year.

    • Hi,
      Either the candidates with a bachelor’s degree can apply or the one who is in the final year of their graduation. In the latter case, one has to submit the self-attested certificate with DAF during PCS Mains exam application process.

    • Greetings Ayushi. Yes, you are eligible to apply for the 2022 UPPSC Exam. But you must produce the self-attested degree certificate before the Mains portion of the UPPSC Exam takes place. Failing to do so will lead to disqualification of you candidature.
