1. Mahavir Jayanti

Context:

President’s greetings on the eve of Mahavir Jayanti.

Details:

  • Mahaveer Janma Kalyanak or Mahaveer Jayanti celebrates the birth of Vardhamana Mahavira, the 24th and the last Tirthankara of Jainism.
  • It is one of the most important religious festivals of Jains.

2. Lifeline UDAN

Context:

Lifeline UDAN flights transport 161 tons of cargo across the country.

3. Food Corporation of India (FCI)

Context:

FCI sets an all-time record in a single day’s transportation of food grains.

4. Online Teaching-Learning Process

Context:

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has taken various steps for Online Teaching-Learning Process.

Details:

  • In light of the ongoing situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, the Union HRD Ministry had directed the heads of all autonomous institutions coming under its ambit to take care of the academic welfare of the students.
  • KVS has shared some action points with all the Principals for implementation to the extent possible, to encourage all teachers in the system to engage their students in learning through digital modes.
  • Using NIOS Platform:
    • KVS has shared the schedule of lessons of the recorded and live programmes of NIOS for secondary and senior secondary classes from their SWAYAM PRABHA PORTAL.
  • NIOS and NCERT are providing online lessons as well as telecasting lessons on TV.

5. Empowered Group chaired by CEO NITI Aayog, constituted by GOI

Context:

Empowered Group #6 on Coordinating with Private Sector, NGOs, and International Organisations for COVID-19-related Response Activities.

Details:

  • Empowered Group Number 6 constituted to address the issues pertaining to identification of problems, effective solutions and formulation of plans with three groups of stakeholders namely:
    • The UN agencies, World Bank, Asian Development Bank
    • Civil Society Organisations and development partners
    • Industry associations – CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, NASSCOM
  • The members of the Empowered Committee comprise the CEO of NITI Aayog, members of NDMA, PMO, MEA and the Cabinet Secretariat.
